Checking In
I completely understand now why Slay The Spire laid down the groundwork for so many games, both analog and digital. I do not have the brainspace as of the moment to break it down in terms of mechanics and general game design because I'm still busy (and also busy hyper-fixating on playing the game itself), but damn is it a great game. I'm trying not to play it again so I can actually rest on my weekend which is today but what will I dooooo?
In any case, I'm just making it a habit to write on here as it has been helping a lot with regulating with uh, pretty much everything in my life right now but my sleep. I'm watching shows again, trying out audiobooks, considering re-reading some more stuff, and playing games. Everything in moderation. The format of this journal is also really helping me get back into writing, possibly even GM-ing again after I have been so burned out from having to write in close to survival situations under the scrutiny of the unforgiving fast-paced social media landscape. I find it ironic that we, as the netizens of this web, crave, and yearn for authenticity but at the same time expect perfection from those we hold in high regard in the internet. Being authentic is anything but showing perfection and being easily-classified.
Sometimes, it's just nice to close all your social media tabs and write on your DIY blog/journal, on the same interface where your code resides too.
Man, I lack so much sleep. But hey, I finished Slay The Spire for the first time last night. Very related statements.
EDIT: I also remembered just now when I'm done inputting fucking everything on the code and whatnot that I want to say that I'm trying to write an essay about Philippine Tattooing and my experiences on it and whatnot so just putting it out there too lmfao.
